Grant Shapps Calls Out Elon Musk's Controversial Tweets

Grant Shapps, the UK's Defence Secretary, has condemned tweets made by billionaire Elon Musk mocking Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky. Shapps described the tweets as "unhelpful" and emphasized the importance of Ukraine having "strong friends".

Ukrainian Leader's Pleas for Aid Ridiculed by Musk

Musk took to Twitter to mock Zelensky's pleas for aid in war-hit Ukraine. The Tesla CEO's comments have not been well-received, with Shapps voicing his disapproval of Musk's actions.

Shapps Highlights the Need for Steadfast Support

Speaking at a conference fringe event, Grant Shapps emphasized the significance of Ukraine having unwavering support. He stated, "What Ukraine really needs is strong and steady friends who won't waver."

Musk's History of Controversial Statements

This is not the first time Musk has caused controversy with his online statements. Last year, he threatened to cut off satellite internet service for Ukrainian soldiers and made suggestive comments about his ties to Vladimir Putin. Additionally, Musk sparked outrage by promoting a "peace" plan that involved Ukraine giving up Crimea and the Donbas region to Russia.

President Zelensky responded to Musk's tweets with his own poll on Twitter, asking followers to choose between supporting Ukraine or Russia. Ukraine's ambassador to Germany, Andriy Melnyk, also had a strong response, bluntly telling Musk to "F*** off".
