Rishi Sunak, the Prime Minister, has stated that the upcoming general election will present a clear choice for voters: Tory tax cuts or what he calls "waffle" from Labour leader Keir Starmer.

Building a Britain where hard work is rewarded

In an article for The Sun on Sunday, Sunak outlined his mission for 2024, which is to build a Britain where hard work is always rewarded. He emphasized that due to progress made in the economy and reducing inflation, the government is now in a position to fulfill its promise of cutting taxes.

He praised the recent introduction of a 2p cut to National Insurance, stating that every working person in the country will benefit from it.

Criticizing Labour's plans

Sunak criticized Labour leader Keir Starmer's proposal of an "unfunded spending spree" of £28 billion per year on eco measures as his only big idea. He accused Labour of evading the question of their plans and trying to appeal to voters by saying what they think people want to hear.

Sunak presented the choice facing the country as one between the Conservatives delivering on their promises and Labour's tired obsession with old politics, evasions, illusions, and "waffle." He urged voters to consider whether they want to build on the progress made or continue with Labour's failure to be straightforward and their short-term approach.

Progress on key priorities

The Prime Minister highlighted the progress made on his five key priorities. He pointed out that inflation has been halved from 10.7% last year to 3.9% now. He also mentioned a significant decrease in the number of people coming to the country illegally and stated that legislation on Rwanda is being passed, which will aid in deportation flights.
