When asked what the best model for funding our national broadcaster would be, only 21 per cent of voters want to carry on with current system where every household has to pay £159 per year.
Instead 36 per cent say they would rather the BBC ran adverts like commercial rivals ITV.
16 per cent would rather have a pay-to-view subscription model like Netflix of Sky TV, while 13 per cent say the BBC should just be paid for out of general taxation.
Lib Dems are most keen on the Licence Fee, backed by 35 per cent of their 2019 voters.
That drops to 28 per cent of Labour voters and just 19 per cent of those that voted Tory last time round.
Last year the Licence Fee was frozen for two years until April 2024 as a new funding model is sought before the current arrangements expires in 2027.
