Ministers are considering a public inquiry into the case of Andrew Malkinson, who was wrongly convicted of rape. This has raised the possibility of Keir Starmer, the Labour leader, being called to testify.

DNA evidence could have cleared Malkinson

Despite DNA evidence that could have cleared Malkinson of the charges against him, he was convicted in 2004. It wasn't until three years later that the police discovered this evidence.

Starmer's involvement as head of the Crown Prosecution Service

Although Keir Starmer had no direct involvement in the case, he was the head of the Crown Prosecution Service during the time when Malkinson's case was being handled. As a result, he may have key insights into how the system failed Malkinson.

Tories urge a full inquiry with Starmer being held accountable

Conservative MP David Morris has called for a comprehensive inquiry into the miscarriage of justice, with Keir Starmer being held fully accountable for the actions and inactions of his organization. Morris insists that lessons must be learned from this case to prevent future miscarriages of justice.

"I’m sure the Labour leader would agree with me that this matter needs to be looked at with urgency," said Morris.
