Sir Keir Starmer expresses concern over ease of purchasing lethal weapons online

NINJA swords should be banned as part of the purge on thugs owning dangerous knives, Labour has said. Sir Keir Starmer today tells Sun readers he is "horrified" by how easy it is for yobs to buy lethal weapons online.

Crackdown on Machetes and Zombie Knives

Ministers have already announced a crackdown on buying and selling machetes and zombie knives, with legislation expected this week. But Labour have called the plans "still too weak" because it excludes key weapons like swords that can be snapped up online.

Ninja Sword Used in Recent Fatal Stabbing

A ninja sword was used in the recent fatal stabbing of 16-year-old Ronan Kanda. Killer Prabjeet Veadhesa bought the blade online using a fake name and collected it from his local post office.

Reviewing Delivery Checks on Legal Knives

Sir Keir will also pledge a review on whether Royal Mail or Border Force could conduct ID and background checks on deliveries on legal knives to stop them being sold to teens.

Rising Knife Crime in the UK

More than 100 people every week were threatened with a knife in the UK last year, analysis found. The Labour leader said: "Knife crime is at epidemic levels and is blighting lives across Britain. I, like Sun readers, am horrified by how easy it is to get hold of a weapon that can end lives. "Solemn promises and warm words aren't enough when so many kids are growing up under a cloud of fear. "As PM, I'll get a grip of this. I'll crack down on online knife sales and on platforms selling weapons illegally and introduce a proper ban these lethal weapons once and for all. When I announce a ban, you'll get a ban."
