The Labour Party's connection to radical environmental protesters has come to light once again, as Green New Deal Rising claims to have had meetings with top MPs, including shadow secretary Wes Streeting. This comes after the group disrupted a speech by Sir Keir Starmer, accusing him of diluting his green commitments. The Tories have accused Labour of being influenced by eco zealots, while Energy Secretary Grant Shapps argues that the Conservative government is the only one with a plan to prioritize British jobs and energy security.

Meetings with Shadow Cabinet Ministers

Green New Deal Rising co-founder Fatima Ibrahim revealed that the group had discussions with Wes Streeting and another senior shadow cabinet minister in the aftermath of their protest at the event with Sir Keir Starmer. Ibrahim stated that the MPs were receptive to the group's concerns about climate change plans, wealth tax, green jobs, a national nature service, and holding polluters accountable. She indicated that further meetings are being sought.

Tories Accuse Labour of Being Influenced by Eco Zealots

The Conservative Party has criticized Labour for "dancing to the tune of eco zealots." Energy Secretary Grant Shapps voiced concerns about Labour's engagement with radical environmentalists, citing their previous collaboration with Just Stop Oil on an energy surrender plan. Shapps argues that Labour should listen to the public instead of taking orders from protesters. He emphasizes that only the Conservative government has a comprehensive strategy to protect British jobs and ensure energy security.
