Labour has unveiled its plans to offer families cheaper energy bills if big infrastructure projects are built close to their homes. The party believes that this strategy will help drive economic growth in the country.

Communities Hosting Infrastructure Projects Will Benefit

According to Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves, communities that host large infrastructure projects will reap the rewards, including lower energy bills. Reeves also aims to expedite the planning process for high-tech schemes like battery factories and 5G projects.

Reeves stated, "If we want to spur investment, restore economic security, and revive growth, then we must get Britain building again." She emphasized the need for a government that has ambition for communities and supports the construction industry.

Business Leaders Show Support

In a show of support, fifty business leaders, including representatives from Greene King, Travis Perkins, and the British Chamber of Commerce, will meet with Reeves for a post-speech reception.

Reeves will also use her keynote address to convey that the country cannot rely solely on taxing and spending to achieve prosperity.

A trusted source disclosed that the goal after Reeves' speech is to make the public believe they can "trust her" with the economy.

Raising Stamp Duty to Fund Planning Officers

As part of her proposal, Reeves also intends to increase the stamp duty charge on non-UK residents. The additional revenue generated will be used to hire 300 planning officers.
