With Putin’s murderous war in Ukraine driving up energy prices across Europe, Liz Truss knows that people are worried about how they are going to heat their homes and run their businesses this winter.

And if she is elected Prime Minister, she will take decisive and immediate action to support people.

Treasury Minister Simon Clarke backs Liz Truss for PM – and says she will help struggling families and turbocharge the economy

One of the first things she will do is call an emergency fiscal event, to push through a temporary moratorium on the green energy levy to cut bills, and to cut National Insurance and put more money back in the pockets of hardworking people.

As a Conservative Liz knows that the first way we should be helping people is to let them keep more of their own money.

Liz has also been clear that she will support families and businesses further with the rising cost of energy.

The country can be reassured that if Liz Truss becomes Prime Minister on Tuesday, she will take decisive action.

But we don’t have to wait until next week to see that Liz’s plan for the economy is the right one.

She will take bold action to unleash our great British businesses around the country, and help every region and every person reach their full potential.

Her plans to stop the planned rise in corporation tax are a vital piece of this puzzle, to keep us open for business and to tell businesses that they will not be punished for creating jobs and wealth on these shores.

When I, like so many of you, voted to leave the EU six years ago, it was to take advantage of all of the opportunities that Brexit affords us.

Liz can be trusted to ensure that all of the remaining EU laws on our statute books that do not work for us are scrapped – to slash burdensome red tape, and get on with growing the economy.

This will help unlock billions in investment for our businesses and infrastructure across the country, playing a key part in Liz’s plan to level up in a conservative way.

This will be turbocharged by Liz’s low-tax, low-regulation investment zones which will attract investment, jobs, and opportunity to every corner of the country.

Above all else, she will take on the economic orthodoxy and reject managed decline.

Liz does not accept that a recession is inevitable and she has the bold plan necessary to avoid it. And she will get us through the coming storm.

She knows that people need help now, and will take decisive and immediate action to this end.

She will support people in the short term, and fix our economy for the long term.

Liz believes that Britain’s best days are ahead of us, and with her in Number 10, I know she is right.
