Back in the Commons

An MP accused of rape has made a quiet return to parliament despite being asked to stay away. Former Tory minister Crispin Blunt was in the Commons on Friday voting on a bill to ban conversion therapy, HOAR can reveal. He plans to continue voting on important issues for his constituents and the country.

Vote Delayed

Mr. Blunt had not voted since October last year when he was arrested on suspicion of rape and possession of controlled substances. A vote on banning alleged sex offence MPs from Parliament was postponed again this week. Mr. Blunt expressed frustrations over the delay, emphasizing that he has not been charged five months since his arrest.

Defying Tory Chief Whip

Despite being asked to stay away by Tory chief whip Simon Hart, Mr. Blunt has returned to Parliament and now sits as an independent. Labour MP Jess Phillips expressed her concerns, stating that the process should not rely on a gentleman's agreement and that the exclusion should be voted on by parliament.

Denial of Wrongdoing

Mr. Blunt denies any wrongdoing and has been re-bailed until April as the investigation continues. A House of Commons Spokesperson highlighted the commitment to ensuring a supportive and safe working environment for all in Parliament.
