LIZ Truss is today unveiling the biggest crackdown on trade union power since Margaret Thatcher.
Speaking out on the eve of another crippling national rail strike, she vowed to stop union barons “holding the UK to ransom”.

The wannabe PM will introduce a massive shake-up within her first 30 days office to stop the UK being plunged into 1970s-style industrial war.
The threshold for going on strike will be raised so at least 50 percent of union members have to back it – up from the current 40 per cent.
Unions will have to give at least four weeks notice of industrial action.
Currently it is two weeks.
A new ‘cooling off period’ will be introduced so unions can no longer strike as many times as they want within six months of a ballot.
And she will ban members receiving tax free cash from trade unions while they are out on strike.
Liz said: “We need tough and decisive action to limit trade unions’ ability to paralyse our economy.
“I will do everything in my power to make sure that militant action from trade unions can no longer cripple the vital services that hard-working people rely on.”
She is following in the footsteps of her hero Margaret Thatcher and clipping the wings of firebrand unions.
A campaign spokesman said: “Liz is determined to stand up for people who work hard and do the right thing.
“For too long, trade unionists have been able to hold the country to ransom with threat of industrial action.
“The steps she has announced today will finally allow the government to take back control from trade union barons and deliver the economic growth we need to put money back in hardworking families’ pockets.”
