PM Calls for Action on Global Warming

Rishi Sunak, the UK Prime Minister, has demanded that China increase their eco commitments ahead of the COP28 summit. He wants the Communist state to show "real world action" when it comes to dealing with global warming.

Pushing for Climate Goals

During the summit in Dubai, Sunak will join around 160 leaders in urging for plans to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees to stay on track. He emphasized the need for significant action to keep the goal alive.

China's Crucial Role

No. 10 stated that China is a crucial part of the plan to combat climate change. The UK has reduced carbon emissions by nearly 50% since 1990, while China has seen an increase of 300%.

Chinese President's Absence

Chinese President Xi Jinping will not be attending the summit. Instead, Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang will represent China.

UK's Commitment to Climate Projects

PM Sunak will announce £1.6 billion for climate projects, including £300 million for energy projects worldwide, during the summit. This demonstrates the UK's dedication to addressing climate change.

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer will also outline his plans to make the UK the "green finance capital" of the world.
