UK Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, has called on police chiefs across the country to step up patrols in response to recent attacks in Israel. Braverman wants the police to crack down on the waving of Palestinian flags on UK streets and prevent any disorder.

Zero Tolerance: Preventing Antisemitism

During her visit to the Community Security Trust, a group that protects British Jews from antisemitism, Braverman voiced her concerns about the use of events in the Middle East to incite hatred against Jewish communities in the UK. She emphasized the need for a strong response, stating, "There can be no place for demonstrations, convoys, or flag-waving on British streets that glorifies terrorism or harasses the Jewish community."

Increase Patrols, Crackdown on Criminality

Braverman has written to police chiefs in England and Wales, urging them to use all available powers to prevent disorder and distress to communities. She believes that officers should act immediately to crackdown on criminality both on the streets and online, stating, "There can be no equivocation. It is incumbent upon all of us to confront the evil of antisemitism whenever and wherever we encounter it." In support of her call for increased patrols, Braverman joined police officers on patrol in north London.

By implementing these measures, Braverman aims to protect the Jewish community in the UK and ensure that acts of antisemitism are met with swift and decisive action.
