UK officials confirmed today that it will NOT extend the Brexit transition period beyond the beginning of the year.
Cabinet Office minister Micheal Gove said today that we would be leaving the EU and all its ties on 1 January 2021.
Ministers have said repeatedly that we did not want to seek an extension of the transition period.
Technically Britain is out of the EU as of 31 January this year, but we are still tied to their rules until the end of 2020.
Britain had to say in June whether it wanted an extension – something which was written in law into the withdrawal agreement.
