ALTHOUGH he’s almost back to his old self, Marlon Dingle still deals with repercussions of his horrific stroke.

But it’s clear his daughter April Windsor is trying to cope with the trauma she was left with next week in Emmerdale.

April comes up with a plan to keep him safe

Could she be overreacting?

The chef portrayed by Mark Charnock was forever changed in March, 2022, when he suffered from a massive stroke which left him unable to walk and with huge difficulties to communicate.

Despite initial doubts about whether he would survive, Marlon persisted and slowly improved, although the effects of his stroke still remain most notably on his teen daughter April.

The girl played by Amelia Flanagan still feels fearful for her father’s well-being and comes up with a drastic plan to keep him safe from harm next week on ITV.

Coming up in the Yorkshire Dales, Marlon receives a text and stands up to help.

But as he does so, an alarmed April pleads with him to stay at home and rest… before forming her plan.

What will she come up with?

While Marlon is mostly able to do things on his own, April struggles to take his progress into account due to her own experience with his stroke.

Fans of the Yorkshire-based program will remember that April was the one to find her father lying on the floor shortly after the stroke hit him.

Marlon had tried to tell her not to be afraid but was unable to say the words out loud.

April was able to pull herself together and called for an ambulance, contributing in saving her father’s life.

She later expressed her fears to Mary Goskirk as she worried Marlon would never be able to recover or would even die.

But when he returned home from hospital, April grew accustomed to his new life with disability and even tried to pitch in to take care of him.

However, this backfired when Marlon almost choked after she’d given him water.

This still didn’t stop Marlon in his recovery and he was even able to tie the knot with village vet Rhona Goskirk last year, with the help of his physiotherapist Kit.

How will the rest of his recovery go?

Will April be able to move past her trauma?

Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7.30pm on ITV.
