Does George have something to hide?
George Knight (portrayed by Colin Salmon) rocked up Walford with his two daughters in tow – and a secret Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) is determined to uncover.
Despite George’s old-school charm and clear commitment to her mother Elaine, the Vic landlady is reluctant to fully trust her soon-to-be stepfather, particularly as she found out his wife Rose mysteriously vanished nine years ago.
According to his daughters, Anna and Gina, Rose walked out on them, leaving George alone to handle life as a single father.
However, many hints have been dropped about Rose’s identity and most BBC One viewers are wondering if she could be one of the Square’s most iconic villainesses – Cindy Beale.
Rose’s swift departure coincides with Lucy Beale’s murder, which took place in April, 2014, and this has made fans speculated that Cindy could have left her new family in shock following her daughter’s demise.
Could they be right?
Next week, Linda is hellbent on getting to the bottom of things but she decides she can’t do it on her own.
It all begins at The Vic, with Elaine (Harriet Thorpe) planning a “Battle of the Dads” karaoke competition.
Linda talks to Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) about Rose’s disappearance, knowing the Walford baddie is keen to get into business with George.
After some persuasion, Phil agrees to find out what he can to ensure he’s not going into business with someone he can’t trust.
Phil soon convinces his reluctant son-in-law Callum Highway (Tony Clay) to search the police database to put Linda’s mind at rest.
Callum’s investigations come to nothing as George has a relatively clean record, but when he looks up Rose, all access is denied.
When Linda hears, she’s convinced this proves that George is dodgy.
In later scenes, Phil invites George to spar at the Boxing Den and asks him directly about Rose.
But the mysterious newcomer insists there’s nothing to tell and Linda’s got him wrong – but will Phil believe him?
