Coronation Street, EastEnders and Emmerdale stars team up for gritty new thriller The Hunted

CHANNEL 5 have announced a new psychological thriller with a star-studded cast.

The Hunted, expected to air later this year, follows the story of a young, single mother Rachel and her son Liam.

Allen Leech will star as mysterious business-man Elliott

Working all hours of the day as a cleaner to provide for her family whilst being on the poverty line, Rachel is approached by a businesswoman who asks her to exclusively clean for someone called Elliott.

However, Elliott’s behaviour towards Rachel and Liam take a turn for the worst.

Suspicions begin to raise as Rachel looks into his past, unearthing a dark story.

The nail-biting thriller welcomes a host of familiar faces.

Kara Tointon, best known for her roles in EastEnders and Mr Selfridge is to star as lead role, Rachel.

The star, who won Strictly Come Dancing in 2008, has previously revealed her most demanding role is being a mum to her two little boys but has been busy filming this month.

Allen Leech, who starred in hit-movie Bohemian Rhapsody, which follows the story of Queen icon Freddie Mercury, plays mysterious business-man Elliott.

He is also known for his role as Tom Branson in Downton Abbey.

Doctor Who star Sara Powell also joins the cast, playing Simone, Elliot’s associate.

The thriller also more stars joining the line-up, with Line of Duty’s Taj Atwal as Jasmine, Rachel’s bestfriend and John Thomson from Cold Feet, as Rachel’s boss Geoff.

EastEnders director Megan K. Fox will be directing the four-part thriller, with Coronation Street writers Cameron McAllister and Neesah Muthy on board to write the gripping episodes.

Executive Producer Sam Tipper-Hale said of the new show: “Cameron and Nessah have written a gripping thriller which questions whether the scars of our past have to determine our future.”

Filming for the series began this May in in Ireland and is expected to air on Channel 5 later this year.
