Spider’s exit left Corrie fans emotional

Toyah cried as she bid him farewell

Leanne met up with Spider and begged him to talk to Toyah before he left for good.

Later he turned up at the flat to speak to Toyah and say a final goodbye – and give her hope for the future.

Handing over his stuff and her engagement ring Toyah told him it was goodbye.

He told her: “I wish I could be the person you want me to be. I won’t have this job forever. Maybe another five years and then I could retire.

“I would never ask you to wait for me. It’s tearing me apart but I have to. I got you something to remember me by.”

“Like I could ever forget you,” she replied as he handed over a spider broach.

“I’m really going to miss you,” Toyah told him as she gave him once last hug goodbye before he left on the tram.

Viewers were left in tears at the emotional scenes.

One wrote: “Toyah and Spider have known each other since they were teenagers this is so sad.”

A second added broken heart emojis and wrote: “I feel for Toyah first losing Imran and now Spider.”

Another added: “If Toyah ever leaves, Spider HAS TO come back for her. My heart is broken.”

Speaking to HOAR and other press, actor Martin said: “I’d like to think that Spider is leaving with unfinished business.

“From chatting with people, I think there is some unfinished business but not immediately.”

He added: “I’ve enjoyed coming back immensely. When I was younger, I was a bit too enamoured with the party scene!

“It’s nice to come back as an older and wiser person and really enjoy it for what it is, which is a great show with great people.”

And he hopes to make another return for a wedding, adding: “Yes, of course! I said it the first time I left, then second time round, third time round and this is the fourth time round.

“I love the show. It’d be nice for a Spider and Toyah wedding to happen at some point.”
