CORONATION Street fans were left cringing as a lonely resident makes a move on an old friend.

A drunk David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) seeks comfort from an old friend – but seriously backfires as his wife Shona (Julia Goulding) returns.

David makes a big mistake

He could even put his friendship with Maria in danger

He’s been feeling vulnerable and his wife Shona isn’t around

Shona left for London with her stepdaughter Lily who has been pursuing her football dreams.

In her absence, her husband David finds comfort in another woman – Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon).

David is left alone in Weatherfield and has been trying to cope with Max Turner (Paddy Bever) facing justice for his involvement with Griff Reynolds’ far-right group.

In Monday’s episode, a devastated David was informed that Max had been attacked by his fellow inmates.

He drowned his sorrows in the Rovers and was later found drunk and alone in Victoria Garden by Maria – with whom he’s shared years of friendship.

The local politician and hairdresser is sympathetic to David’s struggles… but when he leaned in for a drunken kiss, she ordered him to go home.

Shortly after, Shona returned but their happy reunion was cut short when Gary Windass (Mikey North) charged through the cobbles gunning for David about his attempt to kiss Maria.

Shona was left mortified and hurried out of the pub in a flash when she learned what David had done.

David tried to defend himself saying he was drunk and deeply regretted his actions.

But Shona is having none of his excuses and packed a bag and told David she’s leaving him.

Is it really the end for the couple?

Viewers were left wincing after David made his drunken move.

Taking to Twitter, one said: “Maria you told Gary… why? You know David was a total wreck and you put him straight at the end. Gary has been wanting a reason to deck David for quite some time now.”

Another wrote: “The end of the road for David and Shona…”

Also in the episode, Daisy Midgley’s (Charlotte Jordan) stalker Justin (Andrew Still) takes his stalking to another level.

She received a voicemail from Justin who explained he got her number from a parcel he delivered to her address.

A shaken Daisy was lost on what to do next.

She told Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) she’s already informed the police and warned Justin to stay away.

Jenny advised her step-daughter to change her number but Daisy fumed: “Why should I compromise.”

Upcoming scenes see Daisy shows PC Scott the recent texts from Justin but is devastated when the copper plays it down.

A helpless Daisy was hoping that preparing her upcoming nuptials with Daniel would take her mind off of things.

However, as she slowly becomes a shell of herself, Daniel suggests they postpone their big day until Justin has been dealt with.

But Justin isn’t ready to let Daisy go just yet.

Coronation Street airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV.
