CORONATION Street viewers are confused about Steve McDonald turning on his former stepson Ali Neeson.
The cab driver – who is played by actor Simon Gregson in the ITV soap – vowed to ruin Ali’s life because he missed his daughter Emma Brooker’s burst appendix before she was rushed to hospital.
Emma had told Ali how she was feeling unwell after a big night out but hadn’t told him or anyone else about the extent of her pain.
So when she was left at home alone by flatmate Maria, she collapsed and was later rushed to hospital with Steve finding out as he stood gawking at the ambulance on the cobbles.
But when he discovered that Ali hadn’t performed a full examination on Emma, despite it being his day off, he lost his temper.
He told him: “My daughter could have died because of you.
“It’s your flipping job to know, she’s got a ruptured appendix, why didn’t you help her? Why didn’t you send her to hospital? You didn’t even examine her. What did you actually do?
“I’ll tell you what you did – nothing – because you’re flipping negligent.
“And you stink of booze. Were you drunk this morning when you saw Emma or were you mooning over your ex?
“This isn’t over, you are not fit to be a doctor. I’m going to make sure you are struck off and I’m going to take you to court and sue you for everything you’ve got in case you nearly kill someone else’s kid.”
It was a far cry from just a few months ago when Steve and Ali were close with Steve being his former step-dad when he was married to his mum Michelle Connor.
It left viewers confused and raging at Steve.
One wrote: “That’s right Steve, be the daddy. Hypocrite #corrie”
A second said: “Why is no one defending Ali? She was f****n HIDING the extent of her systems. #corrie Thank f*** that’s over.”
