CORONATION Street fans are terrified for Roy Cropper after he publicly humiliated racist gang leader Griff.

The cafe owner – who is played by actor David Neilson in the ITV soap – was lured into Griff’s meeting at the community centre under the guise of it being environmental.

He and several other neighbours all went expecting a community led event.

Instead they found to their horror that Griff was attempting to radicalise people by claiming immigrants were like invading wildlife species, pushing out the white working classes.

As Griff launched into his rant about taxpayers, local councillor Maria Connor stood up to him, demanding to know how much tax he pays.

But as Maria was ripped apart by Griff and left, Roy stood up and took Griff down with calm and reason.

“I don’t wish to appear rude but for you to suggest that the crayfish poses a threat to our water supply, is quite laughable,” he said.

He took Griff’s arguments apart with ease – and tripped the racist thug up easily making him a laughing stock with the audience.

Roy added: “If I turn to the NHS, approximately one in seven of its workforce comes from outside the UK.

“Far from being a burden, the health service would collapse if it wasn’t for that 13-15 per cent of the people who come from overseas.

“Surely, we should be offering them our thanks? And that figure rises to 30 per cent when it comes to doctors…”

The audience applauded Roy and Griff was humiliated.

Griff and his thugs confronted Roy outside – but ended up coming up short again.

And now fans are in fear for Roy’s life.

One wrote: “Really worried about Roy.”

A second said: “Someone on Coronation Street is being racist as f*** to the old guy, and Roy just had a go at him, respect to Roy

Another added: “Roy Cooper is an absolute hero.”
