MORE than a year after his Weatherfield debut as Jacob Hay, Jack James Ryan has slowly become a fan favourite.
But his chemistry with on-screen girlfriend Elle Mulvaney has made Coronation Street fans wonder if they really are an item.

Soap fans first struggled to take a shine to recurring villain Jacob, particularly due to his connection to drug dealer Harvey Gaskell.
However, the lad has gone through quite the redemption arc, most notably through his relationship with Amy Barlow, played by Elle Mulvaney.
Although he first failed at making a good impression, Jacob proved himself to be a great source of support for Amy, particularly when she was accidentally spiked by Max Turner during a Valentine’s Day dance.
After treading lightly for months on end, Jacob has found himself a place in the cobbles, more or less away from crime.
Off-screen, actor Jack James Ryan has formed a close bond with Elle Mulvaney due to them portraying a couple on ITV.
This has led him to clear up any rumours regarding their relationship in a recent story shared on Instagram – both soap stars are just friends.
Jack was responding to a fan wondering if he and Elle were dating and shared a selfie of himself alongside his co-star.
He then quipped: “She wishes”, before adding, “nah, it’s all jokes. We’re just really good friends. Elle is like a sister to me.”
The actor then reminded his and Elle’s fans they were for Best Romance at the Inside Soap Awards, urging them to cast their votes before the September 9 deadline.
Jack was also prompted to point out who he was closest to among the Corrie cast with another behind-the-scenes snap and, unsurprisingly, Elle is one of his best friends in the line-up.
But Jack added in Summer Spellman actress Harriet Bibby and her own on-screen boyfriend James Craven aka Aaron.
The rise to fame took some time for Jack as, before he became known as Amy’s boyfriend, the actor had a quick stint in the Manchester-based program in 2020.
He was then called back and re-emerged in the cobbles in February, 2021, as part of a harrowing drug storyline.
