LIFE in Weatherfield is often full of surprises for residents and one stalwart is reminded of it all the hard way.

One Coronation Street legend becomes a cause for concern but is there really something to fear?

One Corrie legend could face a harsh health battle

Roy Cropper agrees to take Evelyn Plummer to her dancing class

But he suffers from chest pains

Roy Cropper (portrayed by David Neilson) first rocked up the cobbles in July 1995 and ITV viewers struggle to imagine what life in Corrie without him would look like.

In scenes airing next week, the café owner is convinced by Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) to accompany her to her salsa class with Glenda Shuttleworth.

The latter, played by Jodie Prenger, realises she’s got her work cut out for her when it’s clear Evelyn and Roy aren’t the most natural dancers.

With their salsa lesson underway, Roy suddenly clutches his chest, admitting he doesn’t feel well and he hurries out.

Evelyn is later upset and calls in the café to scold him for abandoning her mid-salsa lesson.

Roy insists that he felt unwell but refuses to elaborate, leaving Evelyn to walk out in a huff.

In later scenes, Roy attends an appointment with Dr Gaddas (Christine Mackie) and describes how he’s been suffering from chest pains.

To make matters worse, he lets her know he has also been feeling breathless, prompting her to arrange for some tests.

Evelyn soon finds out Roy is having health issues and insists on accompanying him the the hospital – how will he react?

In recent weeks, the beloved character changed his ways by becoming addicted to a mobile phone his niece Nina Lucas gave him as a gift – which led to a series of issues down the line.

Things went south between him and Evelyn when he dropped an Eccles cake due to being distracted by his phone and her beloved greyhound Cerberus ate it before suffering from kidney failure.

Evelyn forgave and forget – could she be in for a nasty surprise with Roy?

The Roy’s Rolls owner isn’t the only resident to be struggling with their health.

Paul Foreman could be officially diagnosed with motor neurone disease next week.

Coronation Street airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
