The gang back together again! ¿¿ Just had a wonderful evening watching Charlie in the amazing new Alan Bennett play, ‘The Clothes They Stood Up In’ at the Nottingham Playhouse. We’ve never laughed so much at the theatre! We were also bowled over by Sophie Thompson in the lead role of Rosemary (also the name of the character she played in Corrie a few years back!). Charlie exuded warmth and charm as shopkeeper Mr Anwar, and we also loved his other character, the laid back copper Sarge, who was flippin’ hilarious! Get and see it if you can - the show runs until the 1st October. Conversation Street TAKEN WITHOUT PERMISSION

CORONATION Street star Georgia Taylor reunited with her former co-star Charlie De Melo last night.

The actress, who plays Toyah Battersby on the ITV soap, went to watch Charlie as he took to the stage after quitting the show.

Charlie, who played Imran Habeeb, is starring in the Alan Bennett play The Clothes They Stood Up In at the Nottingham Playhouse,  alongside an impressive cast, including Sophie Thompson, Adrian Scarborough and Natasha Magigi.

A Corrie podcaster shared a series of snaps of the pair cuddling up after the show.

The fan, who runs Conversation Street, wrote: “The gang back together again!?

“Just had a wonderful evening seeing @CharlieDemelo  in Alan Bennett’s fab new play, The Clothes They Stood Up In, at the Nottingham Playhouse. Get and see it if you can – we’ve never laughed so much at the theatre! (And Charlie was ace, of course!).”

Charlie left Weatherfield in June after being involved in heart-stopping stories for almost five years.

Solicitor Imran Habeeb was first introduced to ITV viewers in November, 2017, as he was seeking solace from his failing marriage to Sabeen.

His character was given a dramatic exit in car crash, amid his battle for his son Alfie against Abi Webster.

Imran has been involved in what appears to be the opposite of a redemption arc, shedding his heroic image to wear the mask of a villain.

Imran notably fought to clear Yasmeen Nazir’s name of attempted murder, as she tried to writhe her way out of her former abusive husband Geoff’s grasp.

When he fell to his death after a rooftop showdown, she was accused of his murder and Imran was right there to prove her innocence along with the abuse she had endured.

The actor later revealed he planned to leave in 2018, but rethought it when the pandemic struck.
