Paul’s family and friends were devastated to find out he is suffering from motor neurone disease, a life-shortening condition which has left him three years to live.
After weeks of secrecy, Paul came clean to his partner Billy (Daniel Brocklebank) and the pair have decided to make the most of his limited time left in the ITV cobbles.
Gemma and Bernie Winter on the other hand have decide to host a fundraising even for a cash-strapped Paul.
Coming up tonight in Weatherfield, the chilli eating competition takes place in the Bistro.
As the crowd roar Dev, Chesney and Shona on, Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) reminds everyone to give generously.
In later scenes, Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) counts the money and hands Paul £800.
Paul’s touched by their generosity but things take a drastic turn.
Back at the flat Billy and Bernie argue over religion versus crystals.
Asserting that their constant interference isn’t helpful, Paul storms out.
Having escaped to a hotel bar, Paul spots Zac, a blast from his past, and offers to buy him a drink.Â
Paul struggled to cope with his diagnosis, particularly as he was getting ready to celebrate his sister Gemma’s wedding to Chesney Brown.
Things were made even harder for him when he realised he would struggle to provide for her dream wedding and Paul turned to a life of crime to earn some extra money.
This landed him in a courtroom for the theft of murder victim Rufus Donahue’s car – where Billy followed him and found out the truth.
But could Billy figure out what Paul is up to with his ex Zac tonight?
