After moving out of No.4 and leaving her son Tim some privacy with his wife Sally, Elaine Metcalfe is determined to enjoy her new life in her Redbank apartment in the company of Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce).
Elaine was thrilled when Stephen – whom she had set her sights on since he first came back to Weatherfield last year – agreed to marry her and move in with her.
But the lovebirds had a tiff during a recent trip to the ITV cobbles as Stephen insisted she should try and buy into the Underworld factory.
Unlike Stephen, Elaine doesn’t have a mind for business and she categorically refused to invest in the knicker factory, urging her other half to stop chasing a young man’s dream.
The matter seemed finally resolved until viewers of the Manchester-based drama watched in horror as Stephen decided to strike again.
Stephen had the idea of drugging Elaine by swapping her blood pressure pills with caffeine tablets.
Tonight, Elaine’s exhausted and jittery as she remains blissfully unaware of Stephen’s actions.
Handing her a glass of water, Stephen reminds her it’s time for her pills.
Feeling the pressure when Carla Connor (Alison King) tells him if he doesn’t come up with the money quickly, she’ll sell to Owen, Stephen laces Elaine’s tea.
Later on, Elaine admits she doesn’t feel well and Stephen feigns concern before offering to get some food.
Alone and overcome by dizziness, Elaine stumbles and hits her head.
Stephen returns to find Elaine unconscious on the floor… and backs out of the flat.
Has Stephen claimed his fourth victim?
Will Elaine make it?
Will he get his hands on the Underworld factory or be fired trying?
