A CORONATION Street actor has been banned from drama teaching for acting out his sexual fantasies with a schoolgirl.

Anthony Bessick, who played several minor roles on the popular soap, was slapped with a lifetime ban from the classroom after his sordid actions came to light.

Anthony Bessick messaged pupils at the Tring School of Performing Arts in the hope of fulfilling his sexual fantasies

The Corrie actor was working at the school as a drama coach under his real name Anthony Cooke

The Bolton-based actor, who specialises in ‘bad boy’ characters, had been working as a drama coach at the Tring School of Performing Arts under his real name Anthony Cooke.

While at the £39,000 a year boarding school in Tring, Hertfordshire, he sent three pupils inappropriate messages online.

A misconduct panel heard that he would regularly use social media to give feedback to students, but that his conversations with three girls, known as Pupils A, B and C, became sinister.

The panel heard from Bessick’s colleagues that on the night of a school ball in 2016, he “took Pupil A to the staff room and offered her a beer”.

The Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) found that he had messaged the same girl asking her to indulge his fantasy of “being squashed and/or crushed and/or sat or stood on top of”.

During the inquiry, Bessick “accepted” that his reason for taking Pupil A to the staff room “originated from this fantasy”.

Messages from his social media accounts also showed him pestering Pupils B and C, including inviting them drink alcohol and referencing female masturbation.

He even reconnected with Pupil C in 2018, three years after she had left, referring to her as “top totty”.

Penny Griffith, who chaired the TRA hearing said that Bessick had also asked Pupil C to perform an act related to his sexual fantasies in the course of the conversation.

She said: “Mr Cooke’s conduct affected the way he fulfilled his teaching role, since he had blurred the teacher pupil boundary and demonstrated a disregard for School policies.

“Furthermore, his actions exposed those pupils to his sexual fetishes.

“The nature of his communications with pupils and former pupils was sexually motivated, and on one occasion culminated in acting out his fantasies with a pupil in the school.

“He accepts that he was sexually motivated when he engaged in this conduct, in that it was done in pursuit of sexual gratification.”

A panel found that his behaviour was ‘sexually motivated’

He was banned from the classroom for life as a result
