Kate Ford, known for her role as Tracy Barlow on Coronation Street, has revealed her apprehensions about filming Tracy's upcoming sex scenes as part of a steamy affair storyline.
Stepping Out of Her Comfort Zone
Despite her worries, Ford expressed her excitement for the new storyline and the opportunity to explore her character in a different light. However, she admitted that portraying Tracy's sexy side at the age of 46 is more challenging compared to her younger years.
She stated, "I'm trying not to be too vampy with it because that would be a bit too much."
Long-Awaited Meaty Storyline
Ford also shared her enthusiasm about finally having a substantial storyline for her character after a quiet period. She revealed that it has been almost a decade since she and her co-star Simon Gregson, who plays Steve McDonald, have filmed any kissing scenes, making her a bit nervous. However, she acknowledged that stepping out of her comfort zone was necessary.
A Familiar Face Returns
The steamy affair plot introduces the return of Matt Milburn as former footballer Tommy Orpington. Milburn has made sporadic appearances on the soap since 2016 but now has an extended stay on the show for this enticing storyline.
Reflecting on the opportunity, Milburn expressed his delight, stating, "I was absolutely thrilled and over the moon because it's something I've wanted for years… Tommy is the perfect character for me to play because I love football, and he's a famous northern footballer. It's great to be back!"
An Unexpected Chemistry
Milburn also provided insight into Tommy's attraction to Tracy, explaining that he is drawn to her quick wit and sharp banter. He appreciates being kept on his toes and believes that there is a chemistry between them that neither of them anticipated.
