JACK P. Shepherd is full of praise for his latest co-star amid a shake up that saw a Platt family member replaced.

Actor Jack sang the praises of the latest addition to the ITV soap following the replacement announcement earlier this year.

Jack P. Shepherd has praised the new on-screen dog

Jack showed off the new pooch in an adorable TikTok

The star recently confirmed in a TikTok video that David the dog had been recast and a new pooch would be playing the role after the original pet had not been seen on-screen for some time.

The canine cast member made its debut back in 2017 when it was taken in by hairdresser David and his family.

Jack confirmed that the new animal had already started filming on the cobbles and opened up on how he was settling in.

The Corrie star said: “He’s good, he’s only done one day so far.

“He was very nervous but he’s alright.”

He added: “He’s well behaved and sits when he should and moves when he should so that’s a win win.”

Jack was seen cradling the adorable dog in a video posted to the soap’s offical TikTok account earlier this year.

In the video, Jack said: “So this is David, the new David the dog.

“He is actually called David, or Dave. He’s the brand new one and he’s done his first day, two scenes, he’s very tired.”

He went onto say: “He’s going to go home for some treats now. But he’s very good, very well behaved.”

The dog arrived at the Platt household when one of David’s clients at Audrey’s salon, Mrs Moss, unexpectedly passed away.

Mrs Moss was a huge fan of David and that is why she named her companion after him making it fitting that he should take him in following her passing.
