Soap Star's Swipe

Coronation Street legend Sally Lindsay has expressed her disappointment at not being asked to return to the show for a poignant TV moment. The actress, known for her role as Shelly Unwin from 2001-2006, revealed that she would have loved to come back to the cobbles alongside former co-star Suranne Jones, who played Karen McDonald.

Missed Opportunity

Sally, 50, revealed that she had hoped to make a comeback for the on-screen funeral of long-term character Betty Williams in 2011. Betty Driver, who played the beloved character for 42 years, passed away that year. However, Sally was never approached by the show's bosses to discuss a return.

Friendship and Fibs

The actress also spoke about her close friendship with Suranne Jones and Jennifer James, who played Geena Gregory on the show. Sally revealed that the three are still best friends and recently had a weekend away together. She also touched on the topic of childcare in the industry, debunking the notion that actors often fib about it. Sally credits her supportive husband and structured childcare for allowing her to balance her career and motherhood.

Soap Dreams vs Reality

Sally didn't hold back when discussing the misconception that joining Coronation Street guarantees fame and showbiz parties. She emphasized that success in the industry is not solely defined by a role on the popular soap. Sally has continued to work in various dramas since leaving the show, including Scott & Bailey and her recent appearance in The Madame Blanc.
