The actor, 38, who has played Kirk Sutherland on the soap since 2000, becomes the 11th present and former star from the Cobbles to appear in the Aussie jungle.

Coronation Street favourite Andrew Whyment has been confirmed as the eighth celebrity who will be heading into the Aussie jungle

It means eight celebrities including former Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle have so far been revealed.

A source said: Producers are really pleased with the line-up so far, with just a couple of faces to unveil.

“Theres a chance theyll add a couple more but in previous years theyve stuck at ten with one or two to follow.

They were chuffed to get Andrew as viewers have watched him on Coronation Street for the best part of two decades, yet know nothing about him away from Kirk.
