EASTENDERS actress Danielle Harold has sparked a mystery after she returned to the BBC soap set just weeks after being killed off.

The star, 31, teased fans on social media by posting a shot of the show’s iconic Square, despite her character Lola Pearce passing away last month.

Viewers of the East End saga were left in tears on May 31 when Danielle’s final scenes aired, which showed Lola losing her tragic battle with cancer.

Now Danielle appears to have teased a return to the show in some fashion, but did not caption her instagram story to explain why she was back on the soap’s iconic set.

Adding fuel to the cryptic situation, The BBC did not comment when approached by HOAR about Danielle’s post.

Fans were soon going into a frenzy of speculation on twitter, especially given the recent return of Cindy Beale from the ‘dead’.

One tweeted: “DANIELLE AT ELSTREE ?!?!? Confused Dosent even come close whatever it is I’m excited .”

A second came up with an outlandish plot device, adding: “Why can’t their be a twist where billy finds out Emma,Lola’s mum had identical twins and she lied that Lola was her only child etc so Danielle Harold(Lola) can at least come back.”

Lola’s funeral scenes will air next week, and it was recently revealed that Patsy Kensit will return as Lola’s mum Emma Harding for the emotional episodes.

Emma had previously fled Walford after being unable to cope with Lola’s diagnosis.

She was banished by both Lola, played by Danielle Harold, and partner Jay, played by Jamie Borthwick, but is encouraged to return to pay her last respects.

Images released by EastEnders show Patsy’s character looking nervous as she arrived at the church.

She was seen carrying a huge bouquet of flowers and glancing nervously around before she spotted Honey, played by Emma Barton, in the crowd.

Honey encourages her to join the crematorium service for her estranged daughter yet she struggles to deal with her emotions.

It remains to be seen if she can gather her feelings together to say one last goodbye.
