EastEnders boss wants to see a young Patrick Trueman

Phil Mitchell will be plunged into his memories to find out core truths about himself and his family that will hopefully help in his fight against the evil DCI Keeble.

Executive producer, Chris Clenshaw, told the press he would love to explore more journeys into character’s past.

He said: “I’m really excited for everyone to see this. We’re proud of it, we’re very excited by it.

“I think there’s this world with such rich characters I think it’s definitely possible to make something more of it, I really do.

“But then, at the same time, I’d also love to be transported back to the 1950s Trinidad to see young Patrick Trueman!”

The special flashback episode starring the Mitchell family will air on September 5.

It is set to take viewers back to the winter of 1979 as the iconic Walford family struggles with economic turmoil in Britain.

In a tense scene set in a 1970s-style dinning room, Jaime Winstone holds court as family matriarch Peggy Mitchell.

Peggy is surrounded by her sons, the infamous Mitchell brothers Phil and Grant, played by Daniel Delaney and Teddy Jay, while a young Billy Mitchell, who will be portrayed by George Greenland, lurks in the background.

In the episode, Peggy is busy keeping the family in check, while things start to go wrong in her marriage to Eric.

Meanwhile Phil and Eric have their hands tied as they battle for the title of man of the house, which leads to chaos.

Also appearing in the flashback episode is Billy and Charlie’s father Stephen, played by Dean Roberts, with Henry Garrett as Archie and Glenda, played by Rose Reynolds.

Glenda and Archie are keeping a close eye on their daughters Ronnie and Roxy, desperate to keep them out of any trouble.

Audiences will be taken back in time to Phil Grapple’s younger days, which reveal clues to his present storyline.

Surprises from the past may also give viewers some clues to the truth behind DCI Keeble’s feud with the Mitchell family.

The EastEnders Mitchell family flashback special will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on September 5 at 7:30pm.
