GRITTY NEW ROLE

Danny Dyer’s first post EastEnders acting job finally revealed

“It’s a thing that needs to be discussed more openly and I think it’s going to shock a few people.”

Danny went on: “I’ve done ten years, over 1,000 episodes, and it’s time to move on from it.

“I just want the right ending. I don’t want to jump in the back of a cab!”

His exit will be the focus of the big episodes around Christmas and New Year.

Danny said: “It’s Christmas, so we’ll finish filming around October time.

“I’m excited about going out there again. I’m emotional about it, though, it’s a big thing for me. It was a big decision to make.

“But it’s time now. I want to see what’s out there for me. Who knows? Might be f*** all.”

Asked if he could return to the soap in case it doesn’t work out, Danny said no.

Shaking his head he confirmed that Mick will not be able to return to Walford after the full-stop ending.

He has also quit as the host of the BBC’s Saturday night quiz show The Wall after four series.

But Danny has already signed up for new jobs, and will front a Netflix quiz show called Cheat and appear in a four-part drama for Channel 5 filming in Australia.

RALF: MY GRANDPA GRIPES

RALF LITTLE was left gutted not once but twice by revelations about his ancestors during filming of Who Do You Think You Are?

The football fan was elated to learn his great grandad had won an international match for Wales, Chirk v Westminster Rovers in 1894 – until he learnt Albert had then given up the beautiful game for religion.

Ralf said: “I can’t begin to tell you, as an atheist, how upsetting that is to me. Oh man, Albert – what you doing?

“I’m not gonna lie. Right now, I’m kind of heartbroken.”

And there was more to come for the Death in Paradise star, who has a passion for politics.

Ralf was chuffed to hear his 4x great-grandfather John Woollam was one of the very first mayors of Manchester in the 1800s – but was disappointed to then learn he was a Conservative.

The episode airs on BBC1 on June 30.

ALEX IS A SEOUL SINGER

HE was forced to contain his wanderlust to Covid green list Iceland for series one, but now Alexander Armstrong plans to take his Channel 5 travelogue truly global.

For his next trip, the Pointless host will jet to South Korea, the land of Gangnam Style, Squid Game and K-Pop.

Alexander Armstrong will be travelling to South Korea for his new Channel 5 series

Alexander will explore the awesome Gyeongbokgung Palace, cities where robots serve chicken in restaurants and even visit a ‘poo café’ where everything, including the teacups, is toilet inspired.

Alexander said: “Now that we are free to roam beyond the green zone countries of pandemic restrictions I felt it was time to burrow into somewhere truly different.

“South Korea is a country that has leapt to cultural significance in the last ten years and yet we still know so little about it.

“So my first suggestion when Channel 5 kindly asked if I’d like to make another travelogue was Seoul, and don’t spare the horses.”

VIEWERS RAP C4’S PANIC AD

VIEWERS have complained to Ofcom over Channel 4’s fake “emergency news” interruption to its scheduled broadcasting which warned viewers of a “devastating cyber attack”.

The “Prime Ministerial” statement, which aired before Celebrity Gogglebox on Friday night, was a stunt to plug new Simon Pegg GCHQ cyber attack drama, The Undeclared War.

C4 has admitted it was trying to “unnerve” viewers with the “believable” War of the Worlds-style panic transmission, which was broadcast both on TV and as a radio ad.

Like we’d ever face a global threat of that magnitude in real life, eh?
