Viewers of the popular soap opera EastEnders are feeling confused and upset as Jay Brown, a central character, remains absent while he battles for his life in the hospital.

Jay Brown, played by Jamie Borthwick, has been struggling to cope since the loss of his wife Lola, leading him down a destructive path.

His grief drove him towards a dangerous drug addiction, which had a negative impact on his family.

After Jay's drug use was discovered by Gina's father, he was kicked out of their home. Concerned about Gina's recovery, her father believed Jay would be a bad influence on her.

Things took a turn for the worse when Jay returned home and came face-to-face with his deceased wife's remains.

Ben and Gina found Jay unconscious on the couch, fearing he had overdosed just before a planned ceremony to scatter Lola's ashes.

When Jay regained consciousness, he got into a heated argument with Billy over the urn, causing Lola's devastated daughter Lexi to witness her mother's ashes spilled on the floor.

Overwhelmed by guilt and grief, Jay fled and drove away under the influence of drugs.

Later, it was revealed that Jay had been involved in a horrific accident, leaving him in a coma.

Fans are now questioning the absence of Phil Mitchell, who has referred to Jay as his "adoptive son," during this difficult time.

One viewer took to social media to express their confusion, asking, "Why isn't Phil involved in the whole Jay storyline?"

Another echoed this sentiment, saying, "I've been thinking the exact same thing. It's very weird that he wasn't shown talking about Jay at all."

A third viewer agreed, stating, "That's what I've been thinking too. If they don't involve him after this accident, then there's something wrong with the scriptwriters."

Another viewer criticized the lack of concern from Phil Mitchell, saying, "Is Phil not worried about Jay? Where is Phil when Jay, Ben, and Billy are going through all of this? Surely he'd be able to offer support to Jay, just as Gina is? As he's had experience with drugs too?"
