EASTENDERS fans have been left terrified for Ian Beale’s life after he suffered a devastating heart attack.

Fans of the BBC soap got a second shock in less than 24 hours tonight, as hot on the heels of the bombshell news that Rose Knight is actually Cindy Beale alive and well, it was revealed that she was back together with ex-husband Ian.

Ian suffered a shock heart attack

It came as a shock to fans

Despite their tumultuous past – which involved a custody battle over their twins and Cindy trying to have Ian killed off – they have reunited and are living in France together.

Following last night’s ‘duff duff’, which saw Rose be revealed as Cindy as she looked at ex-husband George’s name flashing up on her phone, Cindy was left rattled.

Speaking to Ian (Adam Woodyatt), she admitted his call had made her think of the two daughters she has with George – Gina and Anna – and how she misses them, having walked out of their lives nine years ago.

But later once they were back at their home, the couple started arguing over the situation.

Cindy (Michelle Collins) stormed into the bathroom while continuing to shout at Ian, not seeing that he had suddenly clutched his chest.

Thankfully, she eventually realised he was having a heart attack, and called an ambulance before he was rushed to hospital.

Doctors revealed Ian may need to have a stent put in to help his heart, and before he was wheeled to surgery, he told Cindy he loved her.

While she didn’t say it back, moments later, she identified herself as Cindy Beale.

But in a further twist, Lauren Branning – played by Jacqueline Jossa – was stood behind her, and reacted with shock at hearing Cindy’s name.

EastEnders viewers were quick to take to Twitter to discuss the latest twist and turns in the Cindy and Ian relationship, as well as the impact of his heart attack.

One wrote: “He’s already in the hospital. Things never change with Ian and Cindy.”

Another tweeted: “What the hell Ian is going to hospital.”

A third added: “Ian is terrified of losing Cindy to George.”
