He wrote: “It has just come to my attention that this cretin is messaging a lot of my followers pretending to be me. Please report and block him.”

The fake account mirrors Jake’s, with the same profile picture and bio. Its zero posts and one follower are a big giveaway that it’s not really the star.

Followers revealed how they’d been contacted by the account, with one commenting: “He messaged me twice, just deleted and reported him.”

Another said: “I got a message too and I just deleted it.”

Last month Jake marked his final scenes on EastEnders with an emotional video walking around the iconic Albert Square.

It was revealed in September that the actor, who has played Max Branning since 2006, was leaving the show in an explosive storyline.
