Karen fled with Mitch and three members of her family – and Phil Mitchell's money

In the latest episode, fans watched as Karen hastily packed up her life after her secret plan to fake Albie's kidnapping was exposed. While she kept her son Keanu's secret, she also managed to pocket tens of thousands of pounds from Phil Mitchell.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Lorraine had been let go from the show, and now she has taken to Twitter to respond to a video shared by EastEnders' official account, reminiscing about her time on the show.

The post read: "It feels like it was only yesterday that the Taylors first arrived on The Square! We'll miss the endless drama, excellent banter and family pizza nights… Safe travels Karen, Mitch, Bailey, Mackenzie, and Mia!"

Lorraine expressed her gratitude, saying: "I'm totally overwhelmed with the lovely messages, thank you so much, they really do mean a lot ❤️ big shout out to @CrampsieLinge for casting me, @DaranLittle for creating the Taylor's & Sean O'Connor for giving me the opportunity."

Meanwhile, her co-star Clair Norris, who plays Karen's daughter Bernie, also responded to the video, saying: "6 years of amazing memories" accompanied by crying and love heart emojis.

While the rest of the Taylor family bid farewell to Walford, Bernie chose to stay behind after realizing that Karen only wanted her to go in order to take care of the kids.

Fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the family's exit, with one user writing: "Farewell to Mitch, Karen, Bailey, Mac, and Mia." Another added: "Can't believe we are losing Mitch as well as Karen." It seems viewers were surprised to learn that Mitch would also be leaving the show.

EastEnders airs on BBC One and is available on BBC iPlayer.
