EMMERDALE and Coronation Street were left fuming tonight when their favourite ITV soaps were cancelled.

Both of the popular weekday shows were forced off air because of the World Cup.

Emmerdale fans were left furious tonight when the ITV soap wasn’t on

Coronation Street was also cancelled to make way for the World Cup

In a shake up to ITV’s usual schedule, the soaps were biffed to make way for the USA v Wales game.

But this left Emmerdale and Corrie fans furious, with one venting: “Bloody football! The soaps are always the first to be moved!”

While another said: “Why are soaps all ways move around because of football there sport channel for reason… #eastenders #emmerdale #Corrie.”

This soap fan was not happy: “The World Cup is gonna ruin the live tweeting of #Emmerdale and #Corrie. Some already seen this week’s eps.”

The ITV soaps are facing a scheduling nightmare as the football competition continues in Qatar

Running until December 8, the football tournament will air on both ITV and the BBC – with the soaps schedules in chaos because of it.

Emmerdale usually airs at 7.30pm, Monday to Thursday, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.

And Corrie follows at 8pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with hour-long editions.

But as the soaps were biffed tonight, there will be an hour-long Emmerdale tomorrow from 7pm to catch-up on the missed episode.

That will be followed by another hour-long episode on Wednesday from 7pm, with Coronation Street following at 8pm as usual for its first episode of the week.

Thursday will see yet another hour-long Emmerdale at 7pm.

In another change Corrie will then air straight after at 8pm with an hour-long episode, its final of the week.

Neither soap will air on the Friday night as England take on the USA in the world cup.

Meanwhile, EastEnders aired as normal on BBC One tonight.

However in a surprise move, all three major soaps have been made available to watch on BBC iPlayer and ITVX this morning.
