Emmerdale’s boss has revealed a devastating ending is on the way for Mary Goskirk’s romance with Faye

Faye is not all she seems – and Mary is going to have her heart broken

After a couple of disastrous dates she met Faye, and hopes her first relationship since coming out will go the distance.

However, Emmerdale boss Jane Hudson has revealed their won’t be a happy ending for Mary, despite Faye’s initial impression.

Speaking to HOAR Online and other media, Jane said: “We’ve got a lovely love story playing on-screen for Mary at the moment.

“You’ve been seeing Mary falling in love with Faye. It’s Mary’s first relationship since coming out and she’s been really vulnerable and she’s really put herself out there.

“And unfortunately it’s not going to be a happy ending. Mary’s going to have her heart broken.”

The storyline will take a twist in upcoming episodes, as Faye tells Mary about a fire at the women’s refuge, prompting Mary to suggest organising a fundraiser.

Jane said: “I think what’s really relevant for this story is how easy it is to be scammed, how easy it is to be taken in, how easy it is for love to stop you thinking logically.

“And it doesn’t matter what age you are – we’re all vulnerable to being tricked and to being scammed and being cat-fished.

“It’s a really heart-breaking story. And Louise is just brilliant and she plays it so brilliantly with some lovely humour but then such sadness, so I think you’re all going to really enjoy that story.”

Louise joined the ITV soap last year – having previously starred in EastEnders from 1998-2000.

Meanwhile Faye is played by Jane Gurnett, who starred as nurse Rachel Longworth in Casualty from 1994 until 1996.

Emmerdale airs on ITV1 and is available on ITVX.
