The troubled teen left the Dales to stay in the Lake District with her brother Scott in Monday’s episode of the ITV soap.

Cathy gathered her friends together including her brother Heath to tell them all she was going, but she admitted she’d really miss them.

Arthur, Marshall and April all seemed devastated by her decision, but knowing it was what was best for her, they didn’t stop her and instead wished her the best of luck as they promised to all keep in touch.

Cathy said: “You can tell everyone that I’m going, the village is safe!” before she broke down in tears.

After an emotional farewell with her family, she drove off with her dad to start her new life.

However, fans predict she will return, but with a new face, hinting she will be recasted.

Taking to Twitter, one fan said: “I presume Cathy will come back played by a different actor……… hopefully!!”

Another wrote: “Cathy might come back with a new head in a few months.”

A third penned: “So, can we expect Cathy to return with a new face & a completely different personality?”

Others think Cathy may bring Scott with her, as one conspired: “Farewell Cathy Hope (For now?) Could she actually end up bringing Scott back with her potentially?”

Cathy’s recent storyline have seen her struggle with her heavy periods as they were causing a lot of trouble for her.

She struggled to study and at one point and her mood swings were so fluctuating that she smashed up her brother’s guitar.

Her disorienting symptoms have led to the teen endangering herself with reckless behaviour.

In a flash of emotional rage, Cathy accidentally hits Bob and scratches him with her keys, drawing blood.

Manpreet and Wendy suspected Cathy has a mood disorder known as Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, but Cathy reached her breaking point when she was unable to get an official diagnosis.

Emmerdale viewers have praised Cathy’s “relatable” new storyline that has now prompted a number of fans to open up on their real-life experiences.

Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7pm on ITV1.
