EMMERDALE viewers we’re left in tears during tonight’s episode as Faith Dingle finally experienced her seaside trip – albeit in a different way to what she was expecting.

Fans of the ITV soap opera saw Faith, played by Inside Soap Award nominee Sally Dexter, fall during last night’s episode prompting fresh fears over her dwindling health and whether she would be able to make it to the Filey trip the family had been planning.

Faith spent time with her nearest and dearest

Faith remained adamant the trip would still go ahead but after speaking to her doctor, her son Cain, played by Jeff Hordley, pulled the plug on the trip without his mum knowing.

Instead, overnight the Dingle clan along with Eric Pollard and Rodney Blackstock pulled together to create a one-of-a-kind seaside experience from home.

Fans saw Cain and Chas (Lucy Pargeter) bundle Faith into the back of the old Dingle van where she thought she was travelling to the seaside destination.

After being on the move for just a few moments, a grumpy Faith is informed by Cain the vehicle has broken down and it isn’t long before Chas and Moira are ushering her out of the van which is conveniently located outside Eric’s house.

As she steps out of the vehicle, Faith comes face-to-face with the at-home seaside her family has worked all night to curate, leaving her stunned.

As the tune of ‘I Do Like to be Beside the Seaside’ rings out, a stunned Faith says: “Well I never!”

Chas whistles to a seemingly empty seaside set as all of Faith’s closest family and friends spring out decked in seaside attire.

Faith is overcome with emotion as Cain says: “Well, say something.”

Staring at all her family and close friends in front of her, Faith tearfully says: “It’s, it’s brilliant.”

For Faith’s final wish, there is fairground rides aplenty, sweet treats and some of Faith’s favourite seafood delights she has requested – much to the disgust of her young grandchildren.

Chas also works on bringing in a surprise for her ailing mother and after a series of mystery phone calls and conversations with Rodney and Bernice, the surprise is revealed when an ice cream van turns up.

Chas hurries Faith away from her final ‘flirty’ conversation with Bear and Eric to take her over to the van.

Chas knocks on the window and beckons: “Service please!”

As the screen rolls away, Diane Sugden appears as she asks: “What can I get you sweetheart? 99 is it?”

Faith is left open-mouthed at seeing her old pal who has been living in Portugal as everyone around her cheers and laughs.

Fans we’re left moved by the celebration of Faith’s final days as one wrote on Twitter: “I’m in BITS!”

Another said: “This episode has me crying. Faith is the best person on the show.”

A third added: “Oh god I cannie deal with these emotions!”

At the end of the episode, Faith told Zak if she was to die tomorrow she would die a happy woman as a concerned Moira looked on – aware Faith plans to end it all herself.
