IT looks like 2023 might not get off to the best start for one Emmerdale character as fans have predicted a shocking relapse.
Leyla Harding, played by Roxy Shahidi, has had a difficult year on the soap following her cocaine habit which resulted in huge financial issues, a rehab stint and ultimately led to the breakdown of her short marriage to embattled doctor Liam Cavangah.

Following their decision to leave the marriage behind them a few weeks ago, both of them have attempted to move forward but have found themselves rather lost amidst the uncertainty over their futures.
However things have not gotten any better for Leyla who questioned the pair’s decision to seek a divorce during the New Year’s Eve special.
But it appeared that Liam was not in the same headspace as Leyla as he sought to move on.
With Leyla showing up extremely late to The Woolpack’s midnight celebration, Liam admitted he was unsure of she would turn up but Leyla had something she wanted to get off her chest.
She asked him: “I wasn’t sure if you meant it, you know.
“If you really wanted me here. But it’s five minutes to midnight and I am not going to let this year slip away without saying this.
“Yesterday, you know, the whole family thing – me and you and the dinner.
“Didn’t it make you think that maybe, just maybe, we are rushing into this?”
She then showed her true feelings as she asked: “Do you really want a divorce?”
Taken aback by her comments, Liam insisted that the family dinner was just play acting and that he hadn’t read any more into it.
Feeling a bit on-edge, Liam went to get the pair some drinks in order to have a quiet moment but she slipped away from the New Year gatherings sparking concern amongst fans.
They could not help but ponder if Leyla was about to relapse and fall back into her drug habit.
One fan wrote: “I felt sorry for Leyla tonight. I hope she doesn’t relapse again #Emmerdale.”
Another commented: “#Emmerdale I think Leyla could be heading for another fall.”
A third said: “Oh Leyla don’t walk off. #Emmerdale.”
Whilst one fan seethed at Liam’s attitude toward her, writing: “What does Leyla see in Liam? He’s a prize p**ck! #Emmerdale.”
