But Wendy decided to end both ventures in recent Emmerdale scenes
Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) was shocked when Wendy stumbled upon one of his murder mysteries at the surgery and suggested some minor tweaks.
The pair grew closer as they worked on a new literary project together in secret.
However, this meeting of the minds soon escalated, as it so often does in the ITV soap, and the pair spent a steamy night together in the surgery.
This developed into an affair which Wendy eventually decided to end as her guilt grew due to her relationship with Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw).
But in scenes airing tonight, the chemistry sizzles in the cafe between Wendy and Liam.
He’s on his laptop whilst Wendy does her best to hide her enthusiasm as she orders from Rodney.Â
Yet Wendy gets a shock when an enthusiastic Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) muscles in having got wind Liam is writing a novel and grabs the opportunity to hear more.
Jealous Wendy heads off, fuming that she may have already been replaced by Lydia.
Later, outside the Woolpack, Lydia continues to pitch Liam a narrative twist for his novel.
Her tale cuts rather too close to home to an arriving Wendy who is jealous to see Lydia giving Liam writing advice.
Wendy breaks up the little party – but what else could she do?
