Dancing On Ice Star Roxy Shahidi Reveals Painful Injury

Roxy Shahidi, known for her role in Emmerdale, has opened up about a painful injury she sustained while training for Dancing On Ice. The star, 40, described the experience as the most painful she has ever been in. Speaking with HOAR before the show's series premiere, she explained that she dislocated her rib while practicing with her skating partner Sylvain Longchambon. This injury caused her difficulty in breathing, and even sneezing or coughing was excruciating. According to Shahidi, the injury is common among skaters and is often caused by repeated compression on the ribs.

Recovery and Preparing for the Show

Despite the injury, Shahidi has been working hard to recover and get ready for the show. After about three weeks, the pain began to subside, and over Christmas, she was able to rest her rib. Now, she only has a scar tissue lump as a reminder of the injury. Shahidi has been careful to strengthen and stretch her muscles to prevent it from happening again. Although she is anxious about the lifts getting bigger as the show progresses, she is determined to push through and give her best performance.

Excitement and Pressure

Roxy Shahidi is excited to finally make her debut on Dancing On Ice after being approached to join the show seven years ago. At the time, she had to decline due to being pregnant. Now, with her daughter older, she felt ready to take on the challenge. Shahidi's friends and colleagues from Emmerdale have been supportive and excited for her. However, she does feel the pressure to live up to the success of previous Emmerdale contestants on the show. Despite the pressure, Shahidi is confident that her yoga practice will help her shine on the ice.
