AFTER being accused of murder and breaching the peace, Stu Carpenter was thrown behind bars.

The former homeless man returns to Coronation Street this week and Yasmeen Nazir is determined to clear his name. Get the lowdown.

Stu Carpenter comes back from prison this week

Yasmeen Nazir and her family welcome him

But other residents are more reluctant to do so

How will things go for the former homeless man?

1. Yasmeen takes a stand

When the Speed Daal chef played by Bill Fellows was first accused of murdering his former lover Charlie, Yasmeen Nazir (portrayed by Shelley King) was one of the first ones to turn her back on him.

However, this week, the restaurant owner is standing by her man again after a change of heart triggered by her grandchildren’s fight for the truth.

Coming up, Zeedan and Alya Nazir (played by Qasim Akhtar and Sair Khan) sort through Stu’s case files, which they asked Adam Barlow for.

They stumble upon the former navy’s interview tapes, which prompts the solicitor (Sam Robertson) to point out that Stu was questioned for over ten hours.

This turns out to be against the rules and, to top it all of, there’s a tape missing from the case files.

Alya then pays Stu a visit in prison but Yasmeen interrupts, finally ready to hear him out fully.

Stu tells Yasmeen the whole story of his affair with Charlie and he requests that Zeedan and Alya speak to his own solicitor, Norman.

The latter confirms exactly what Stu has been saying – he was coerced into making a confession.

Feeling for Stu, Alya puts pressure on Yasmeen to allow him back at No.6 as she’s certain he’s actually innocent and has nowhere else to go.

Yasmeen agrees and is eagerly waiting for Stu to come out of prison, much to his surprise.

In Victoria Garden, she tells Stu she believes he’s innocent and asserts that he must let Bridget know his intentions.

Stu reluctantly agrees but the pair then make their way to the cobbles.

While Yasmeen, Alya and Zeedan are starting to figure out Stu was more of a victim than previously thought, other Weatherfield residents won’t be as convinced.

Upon his return, Stu is met with hostility from Dev Alahan and Bernie Winter but Yasmeen stands her ground – he’s moving back in with at No.6.

Later on, and after Stu apologises to Kelly for cruelly rejecting her, Tim Metcalfe is another resident who wants him away from Yasmeen.

Once again, Yasmeen is hellbent on helping Stu clear his name, despite warnings from both Tim and his mother Elaine.

Stu is aware how much pain this could cause Yasmeen and offers to pack his bags.

But a stubborn Yasmeen tells him running away will only make him look guilty.

Can Yasmeen help Stu speak out his truth once and for all?

Bernie Winter is met with her long-lost sister this week

2. Bernie faces her twin

While Stu is being given a new lifeline, Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) is set to receive a surprising visit.

The character, known for her scheming, returns home from a shopping spree during which she bought Joseph a brand new uniform and a posh blazer for herself.

She then admits the blazer was actually meant for another person but was given to her by mistake, prompting her daughter Gemma and Chesney Brown to urge her to take it back.

An unknown woman then calls at No.5, introducing herself as Fern and claiming Bernie tried to steal her jacket.

But what will be most shocking is the resemblance between the two as it becomes clear Bernie has just met her long-lost twin.

Can she get out of trouble?

Will both women realise they could be related?

Aadi Alahan is getting closer to Kelly Neelan

3. Asha is furious with Aadi

Elsewhere in the cobbles, love is clearly in the air for both Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain) and Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson).

However, Aadi’s sister Asha (Tanisha Gorey) becomes furious when she sees wayward Kelly wear an engagement that belonged to her late mother.

Knowing Aadi (Adam Hussain) has been getting closer to Kelly in recent weeks, she can only think of him to blame.

Asha confronts her brother over Kelly’s engagement ring and he’s forced to admit it was part of their mother’s jewellery collection.

But there’s a twist – Kelly and Aadi don’t intend to really get married.

In previous scenes, which are also due to air next week, the budding lovebirds came up with the idea of taking part in a competition to have a free holiday.

This means they’ve had to play the part of a love struck couple who are looking to get married.

Amid preparations for a quiz proving they really are a couple and after their first kiss, Aadi decided to give Kelly his mother’s ring.

But there’s trouble ahead for the budding couple.

Aadi gets a shock when Kelly drives off with his new car

4. Kelly gets into a car crash

Sadly for Aadi, Kelly overhears him explain everything to Asha, she takes it to heart.

Hurt and angry, she chucks the ring at Aadi before jumping in his new car – given to him by his father Dev after he passes his driving test – and speeding away.

Aadi knows something has gone wrong and feels obligated to go after her.

He borrows Asha’s old princess bike and sets off down the ginnel – only to find his car crashed into a bollard.

With Kelly nowhere to be seen, Aadi is at a loss.

Is she hurt?

Dylan Wilson has a shock announcement for his father Sean Tully

5. Dylan drops a bombshell

Meanwhile, Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) has been spending time with his father Sean Tully (soap legend Antony Cotton).

This week, the lad gets ready to go home to London and Sean decides to give him a proper send-off with a farewell dinner.

But when he is called into work, George Shuttleworth’s sister Glenda (played by newcomer Jodie Prenger) has, yet again, an idea to save the day.

In later scenes, Sean arrives at the Bistro and finds out that both Glenda and Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) have invited Weatherfield County footballer James (Nathan Graham) to surprise Dylan at his soirée.

The youngster is over the moon when James suggests a kickabout before dinner.

He then drops a bombshell on Sean – Dylan reveals he doesn’t want to go back to London and would rather live in the Street.

How will Sean react?

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV.
