CHARLES Anderson spiralled out of control and left the Dales following the death of his father Victor.
Concerned partner takes action
Concerned for his well-being, his partner Manpreet Sharma takes action for the Emmerdale vicar next week.
Dark secret and guilt
Victor Anderson was found dead in St Mary’s Church in recent scenes of the ITV soap, just as he was trying to run away from the police when he was accused of stealing Rishi Sharma’s necklace.
It later transpired that his own son Charles (portrayed by Kevin Mathurin) had framed him for the theft of the family heirloom in an attempt to get him away from his mother Claudette.
Since then, the vicar has been feeling more guilty than ever and decided to leave the eponymous village.
Manpreet caught in the middle
This also left Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) in a tricky situation as she’s the only one to know all about Charles’ dark secret.
A plea for his return
Coming up next week, Manpreet and Ethan Anderson (Emile John) both take the day off to help reluctant Claudette (Flo Wilson) with funeral planning.
Manpreet does her best to encourage Claudette, and there is a moment of genuine affection between them as they agree to push through to the funeral.
The following day, struggling with the weight of the secret, Manpreet leaves Charles a voicemail, begging him to return to the village.
Unable to run any longer
Charles arrives home, unable to run any longer. After some attempts to build up to the truth, Claudette singing Charles’ virtues means he can’t bring himself to tell her and instead guiltily slinks out.
An explosive confrontation
Troubled to see Charles drinking so liberally in the Woolpack, Tom King (James Chase) watches as a black cloud descends over him.
The hunk tries to sympathise with Charles, unknowingly riling him up more.
Charles lashes out and Tom retorts, but he soon finds himself pinned to the bar by Charles, to the shock of all onlookers.
A plea for the truth
After threats and placations all around, the arrival of Charles’ family finally snaps him out of his rage to release Tom.
As Charles flees, his family are concerned. Catching up to him, Manpreet begs Charles to tell the truth but will she be able to get through to him?
Will the truth be revealed?
Will Claudette ever find out what Charles did? Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7.30pm on ITV.
