KYM Marsh has revealed her secret backstage meltdown moments before performing on the Strictly Come Dancing floor.

The former Hear’Say singer admitted that she had struggled to contain her emotions while appearing on It Takes Two this week.

Kym failed to impress with her dance on Saturday night

She told It Takes Two she had a “meltdown” before the performance

Kym, 46, who has been dancing alongside professional star Graziano Di Prima in the hit BBC One show, was at the bottom of the leaderboard on Saturday night.

The actress – who performed a Quickstep to Sweet’s Ballroom Blitz – received a measly 27 points from the unimpressed judges.

Coronation Street star Kym admitted that she “lacked confidence” during the routine after suffering a “meltdown” backstage.

She told It Takes Two host Janette Manrara that she tried her best to “have fun” with the dance despite not performing at her best.

“After having a day of a bit of a meltdown, I got on there and thought you know what, let’s just have fun,” Kym said.

She continued that it was “scary” to close the show, especially as she was still suffering from her nasty rib injury.

“It was a bit of a scary moment closing the show, but Graziano gave me the biggest squeeze – which I didn’t really appreciate, because I’ve got a rib injury still,” Kym added.

It comes as it was revealed that former fan favourite Kym is “set for the axe” this weekend after clashing with Shirley Ballas.

Kym is now the 6-4 favourite with bookmaker Coral to be the next contestant to leave the BBC show this weekend.

James Bye is 5-2 to depart, while Ellie Taylor is 3-1 to be the fifth contestant to go on Sunday night’s show.

Kym landed a score of only 27 out of a possible 40 points as Strictly Celebrated 100 years of the broadcasting corporation.

Head Judge Shirley Ballas did not hold back on her critique, calling the dance “all over the place”.

The adjudicator noted: “The core today lacked a little bit, it was loosey goosey, it was moving a bit all over the place.”

She added: “Somehow for me it wasn’t your best dance today.”

Fans felt that Shirley, 62, was ‘jealous’ of the former Hear’say singer – after she was branded sexist for appearing to favour the male contestants.

Kym admitted she had been struggling and told co-host Claudia Winkleman that she had a “dodgy” day on set.

She revealed: “I felt pretty confident going in…I’ve had a bit of a dodgy day when it comes to confidence.”

Kym added: “The team and everyone here has just picked me up. I can’t thank you all enough for that.”
