Concerned BBC producers are taking steps to strengthen security ahead of the production, which is set to take place at Blackpool's Tower Ballroom on Saturday (18 Nov). The limited road routes in and out of the area make it vulnerable to major disruptions and pose a significant security risk.
Past Incidents
Previous incidents have raised concerns about the safety of the event. Last year, contestants returned to Blackpool for the first time since the 2020 Covid crisis. In 2019, police were present at the venue during filming due to targeted thefts from dressing rooms. Additionally, in 2016, a Spanish pro dancer was assaulted by a group of youths and lost two teeth during a night out after the show.
