Former Love Islander spills the beans on audience antics
Fans of Strictly Come Dancing have been caught sneaking alcohol into the studio by disguising it in water bottles, according to contestant Zara McDermott.
The reality TV star, who was recently eliminated from the BBC show, revealed the trick during a podcast interview this week. McDermott said, "Some people have started to bring their water bottles in, go to the bar, fill it up with alcohol and bring it back in."
McDermott's claim was supported by her boyfriend's best friend, Pete Wicks, who is known for his appearances on The Only Way is Essex. Wicks, 35, explained that he learned the hard way that audience members are not allowed to leave their seats during filming, preventing him from going to the bar. He said, "They wouldn't let me get up… I was raging."
Zara McDermott and her professional partner Graziano Di Prima were the fifth couple to be eliminated from this season's competition. Strictly Come Dancing bosses declined to comment on the allegations of alcohol smuggling.
