Call of Duty, one of the most popular games worldwide, is available on multiple platforms, including Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. While all platforms offer a similar experience, some versions receive exclusive items or have improved graphics and playability. However, with Xbox's recent acquisition of Call of Duty maker Activision Blizzard for a massive $69 billion (£55 billion), the game's IP now belongs to Xbox. As part of the acquisition, Xbox has promised that Activision Blizzard games will have parity across all consoles, ensuring that every version of Call of Duty will be the same regardless of the console you own.

PlayStation's Exclusive Oni Skin

Before the acquisition, Activision Blizzard struck a deal with PlayStation, which should still be upheld. As part of this deal, owners of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on PlayStation were offered the exclusive Oni skin. This skin was meant to be exclusive to PlayStation owners for one year after the game's release on October 28, 2022. However, players on both Xbox and PC have reported being able to use the PlayStation-exclusive skin since October 17, almost two weeks before it was supposed to be available. It is unclear whether this early release was intentional or a mistake. Some speculate that Xbox pushed out the update early due to the recent acquisition, but no official statement has been made.
